New pilot will hear from residents in Wards 6 and 13 to help improve how the City plans street repairs and maintenance.
ST. LOUIS — The City of St. Louis, in partnership with Limitless Horizons, is launching a new Street Maintenance Pilot. The goal is to improve how the City plans and prioritizes street repairs and maintenance. Limitless Horizons has been tapped to lead the pilot’s community engagement efforts.
The pilot will focus on Wards 6 and 13. It will give residents a chance to share their experiences with street maintenance. Residents can also share what they believe the City should consider when planning future work.
Alderwoman Yolanda “Yolie” Boyd of Ward 6 and Alderwoman Daniela Velázquez of Ward 13 have played a key role in the pilot. Their leadership has helped shape the project from the start.
In addition, both Alderwomen are helping create ways for residents to take part. Their knowledge of their wards will help the project team reach and hear from local residents.
“We are grateful to Alderwomen Boyd and Velázquez, and the City of St. Louis for trusting us to help lead this work with their communities,” said Andrew Shaughnessy, owner of Limitless Horizons. “Residents know their neighborhoods best. We want to listen first, learn from their experiences, and use what we hear to improve how the City approaches street maintenance.”
Residents Can Share Their Experiences
During August, the project team will host community listening sessions in Wards 6 and 13. Residents will have the chance to talk about street repairs and maintenance in their neighborhoods.
For example, residents can share what they think the City should consider when planning maintenance. They can also share their experiences with street repairs.
The project team will use this feedback to learn what matters most to residents. In addition, the pilot will look at how resident feedback can work with City data.
Most importantly, the process will not end after the listening sessions. The project team will share what it heard with the community.
As a result, resident feedback will help shape recommendations from the pilot.
The St. Louis Street Maintenance Pilot will help explore a better way to plan for street maintenance. Together, community feedback and City data can help guide future decisions.
